Natakallam – language sharing

Where: Created in the USA, implemented internationally

What:  Connects displaced Syrians with people who wish to learn Arabic, for language practice via paid Skype sessions. this provides an Income for Refugees, and helps people with their language-learning aspirations.

Organisation: Lebanese NGO, Arcenciel, the Aspen Institute and supported by Columbia University’s Start-up Lab

Success? 1,200+ people have been involved in over 13,000 hours of Skype sessions since it started, generating around $120,000 in income for the Refugee Teachers.
